Silver Galapagos
At 289 feet long and 4,077 tons, the newly launched
100-guest
Silver Galapagos
is naturally suited
for in-depth exploration and offers two distinct
seven-day itineraries through the spectacular
Galapagos Islands region.
A Galapagos cruise with Silversea Expeditions
offers adventurous travelers a life-enriching
opportunity to discover the wild pristine paradise
that has long been regarded as a natural laboratory
of evolution. On Galapagos tours, guests can
enjoy up-close encounters with an abundance of
wildlife, including sun-basking land iguanas, giant
tortoises, blue- and red-footed boobies, colorful
marine iguanas, sea lions, penguins and Darwin’s
famous finches.
Silversea’s experienced expedition team guides all
exploration ashore. With scientists and researchers at
their side, guests can observe unique highland
ecosystems, hike through lush mangrove forests and
across volcanic fields, discover natural lava tunnels,
watch for wild flamingos, read cave inscriptions from
the 1800s and learn about conservation efforts at the
Charles Darwin Research Station. Guests will also
have the opportunity to swim and snorkel while
learning more about the sea life found in the tranquil
clear waters that surround the Galapagos Islands.
Silver Discoverer
At 5,218 tons, 338 feet long and 51 feet wide, the
newest expedition ship, S
ilver Discoverer,
is expertly
engineered to explore isolated archipelagos. The
ship’s intimate size and shallow draft allow close-up
access to rugged coasts well beyond the reach of
ordinary vessels.
In 2015, the 128-guest
Silver Discoverer
will sail
to some of the world’s most remote areas such as
Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, the Russian Far
East, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia,
including one of Australia’s most secluded treasures,
the Kimberley.
The small-sized ship, the eighth in Silversea’s fleet,
offers five sumptuous suite categories. The
Silver
Discoverer’s
Medallion Suites present the ultimate in
comfort and convenience. At a spacious 432 square
feet, Medallion Suites offer teak verandas with floor-
to-ceiling glass doors, living rooms with sitting
areas, dining areas, marbled bathrooms with walk-in
showers, two flat-screen televisions with on-demand
movies and music, and afternoon canapés. Medallion
Suite guests will also enjoy the privilege of having
dinner at the Officer’s Table.
Extensive onboard features and amenities include
12 Zodiac boats, a glass-bottom boat for unique
