Kruger National Park. Together these and other parks
create Greater Kruger National Park, which is home to
the largest concentrations of free roaming elephant,
lion, rhino, leopard, Cape buffalo, cheetah, and
hundreds of other species of wild mammals. Game
viewing on MalaMala’s 33,000 acres is exclusive to
guests of the game reserve. As a result, human impact
is kept to a minimum and guests are able to enjoy
wildlife sightings for longer periods, increasing
photographic opportunities.
After landing at Skukuza Airport, conveniently located
inside Kruger National Park, we met our driver who
would take us to MalaMala, South
Africa’s legendary private game reserve
for our three-day safari adventure. Once
on the road, we immediately began
seeing what so many travelers dream of
when they imagine Africa — giraffes,
gazelles, warthogs, zebras, impala,
colorful birds and even a couple hippos
wading their fleshy pink bodies among the river reeds.
For many travelers, going on safari means tracking
down and photographing some of nature’s most
beautiful and elusive creatures, and few places on the
African sub-continent consistently provide a game
viewing experience quite like MalaMala private game
