FEATURE STORY
Mega-Fun for Everyone
Royal Caribbean International has held title to the world’s
largest cruise ship for quite some time, taking that
distinction away from Cunard Line’s
Queen Mary 2
in
2006 with the launching of its
Freedom of the Seas.
Since
then, Royal Caribbean has dominated the field, adding
seven additional mega-ships to its fleet, all of which are in
the top 10. Until recently, two of those ships, the Oasis-
class
Allure of the Seas
and its sister ship,
Oasis of the
Seas,
shared top billing, but that all changed in May 2016
when Royal Caribbean launched its newest ship,
Harmony
of the Seas. Harmony
is the third ship in Royal Caribbean’s
Oasis-class and the largest cruise ship in history, taking
over first place with 226,963 gross tonnage, double
passenger capacity of 5,488, and a total length just
inches ahead of the pack.
Harmony of the Seas
o’ers
seven-day round-trip cruises originating from Port
Everglades, Florida to the Bahamas, and Eastern and
Western Caribbean.
A floating mega city,
Harmony
mirrors its sister ships,
Allure
and
Oasis,
featuring seven distinct neighborhoods
including: Central Park® outdoor garden with galleries,
restaurants and shopping; Boardwalk, a game arcade;
Clockwise from top-left:
Harmony of the Seas’
Aqua Theater,
the deepest pool at sea;
Harmony
has four refreshing pools to
choose from; slip away to
Harmony’s
adults-only indoor and
outdoor retreat, The Solarium;
Harmony of the Seas
— the
world’s biggest ship with some of the world’s best features;
the fun-filled Boardwalk neighborhood, one of seven distinct
“neighborhoods” aboard
Harmony.
