Out and About
The island of Dominica is an exciting destination for
nature lovers. In fact, Rosalie Bay Resort offers a
different guided island tour each day of the week so
you can hike some of the 12 major waterfalls, discover
the lush natural beauty of the tropical forest, or
reconnect with each other seaside with a picnic lunch.
Dominica is one of the “World’s Best Ethical
Destinations,” according to Ethical Traveler, and
Rosalie Bay Resort is proud to support its efforts to
protect the island and the world’s resources.
Dominica (pronounced “Domineek-ah”), not to be
confused with the Dominican Republic, is the
“Nature Isle of the Caribbean.” The youngest island
in the Lesser Antilles, Dominica is located between
Guadeloupe and Martinique. When you travel to
Dominica you’ll discover an island rich in natural
beauty and undisturbed by tourism.
Visitors can witness eight active volcanoes, an
abundance of wildlife, more than 1,200 plant species
and 365 rivers that rush out to sea. Most of the island’s
289.5 square miles are covered in natural vegetation
and many of the island’s 70,000 inhabitants live near
the capital city of Roseau.
Dominica is committed to preserving its natural
beauty, and was the first country to be Green Globe
Benchmarked.
