OCCIDENTAL PAPAGAYO
Embraced by volcanic sand beaches and the lush tropical dry
forests so characteristic of Costa Rica’s northern Pacific Coast,
the Occidental Papagayo, is an intimate, adults only, all-
inclusive resort featuring cliff-side rooms and suites overlook
the Papagayo Gulf in Costa Rica.
A robust, daily activity program includes hiking, yoga
three times a week, aqua aerobics, dance lessons and sunset
walks. Outside the all-inclusive options there are guided eco-
adventures such as cycling and kayaking tours plus snorkeling
and diving excursions. The resort is, in fact, located next to
Culebra Bay well known to divers and snorkel enthusiasts for
the clarity and calm of its waters. Following a day filled with
outdoor activities, guests can relax with a massage, body
treatment or facial in the resort’s full-service spa.
For guests who find music therapeutic, one of the resort’s
points of distinction is the focus on music. Select nights of the
week feature musicians on the violin, trumpet, piano or guitar.
When it comes to diet, there is no designated healthy-themed
menu, but guests will find a good selection of healthy food
options offered on buffets and via à la carte menus in three
international-themed restaurants, each offering a fresh Catch
of the Day. And, once a week in the Snack Bar, there’s a
cooking class where you can learn to cook such typical
Costarian fare as tortillas palmeadas or empanadas.
Scenic views, the intimate size of the resort and the fact
that it’s “all adult” promotes the overall romance of the resort
and makes it popular for weddings and honeymoons.
